details on the sale of my paintings

i’d like to remind folks that i am selling my art, some is available and a bit of it had been sold or i can’t bring myself to let go of it. ūüôā ask me in the comments if you have a question or if you want to buy something. you can also contact me at:

very.crazy.ruthie @ gmail.com

i’m selling this stuff really cheaply. ¬†i’m not going to ask gallery style prices. most things on paper will be $15 shipping for those is free. yup, even international!

acrylics are on canvas most of the time. those will be a lot more expensive and will be expensive to ship. i’d be happy to discuss it with someone, but most of the work like watercolors and inks are all on paper.¬†most of my work is small. for example,

5″x 7″ aka 18cm x 12.5cm or

8″x 10″ 20.32cm x 25.4cm

those are sizes that fit standard american frames. i’m sorry, i don’t know the standard sizes for everywhere else and i’m too lazy to look up a bizillion sizes.

i have sooooo many alcohol ink painting, for instance the first painting in the grid below is an alcohol ink painting. i think i have that one. haha. if i don’t have the alcohol ink painting you want (any of them in my gallery) i can probably find a similar one.

paintings like this will be $15

paintings with circles in them

i’m so glad i chose this sort of picture lay out because for the first time on WordPress….you can see my paintings big enough to really ¬†appreciate them.

i love circles! i draw circles constantly. they usually are pen and ink abstract doodles.i paint them too! these paintings, all from 2016, are examples of that!

i don’t make the circles in the paintings intentionally, they just come out when i paint. i must be full of circles inside! lol ¬†as you can see, my paintings are messy and wild. there is nothing even remotely like a circle that is like a plain old circle.

these are mostly acrylic, but there are some alcohol ink, and watercolors in there, too.

a discussion of my painting “concentric circles 6”

this painting, often compared to a rose, has been very popular across the social media i use. that’s awesome! the more awesome thing is that i love this painting and i love the idea behind it.

the painting is from a series of “concentric circle” paintings. the technique is very simple. i used my japanese watercolors (see the post before this. it’s a discussion of my painting, “curly” and explains these watercolors) on yupo (same here, prior post explains) and paint concentric circles on it. i’m not tidy about it, i never am. messy is part of my style! ¬†i chose colors, only a couple on this one and quickly painted the circles with space between each one. i just used the reddish purple colors. i can’t put a real name because these watercolors are only labeled in japanese. you can see the circles in this one.

when i paint the circles, i do it with watery paint and let them flow. depending on which of the concentric circle paintings i made, the amount of water i used varies a lot. some of them have more vibrant colors, the ones that have less water in them or that i build up the color in layers. each painting in the series is quite different.

when the rosy colors start to run all the way into each other, i used an even more watery black. because i laid it on lightly and pretty runny so it actually looks gray and not black. the rest just happen. the two colors blended, but not too much, so you can see the circles within circles. because of the way they flowed together, it turned out looking like a rose. i didn’t intend to ¬†make it look like a rose, but it was a ‘happy accident.’

i’ll show a couple other paintings in the series.
