little trip to Carmel, CA

This weekend we went on a little vacation. It was just overnight in Carmel, CA which is about 2 hours SW of me, just south of Monterey. It’s a beautiful little town. There is a gallery and boutique sort of downtown, which isn’t my thing. If you get into the residential areas and to the lovely, cold beaches, I love it. Sometimes it’s warm, but mostly quite cool.

The houses are pretty small but beautiful. They’re like fairy houses! They’re not very far from the road or each other, but they’re surrounded by flowers and trees.

It’s very much a pedestrian and dog town. There are people walking their dogs all around the place. Everyone is so friendly!

The stayed in a pretty little cottage with a backyard. It was  an easy walk from a beach. No length of walk is easy for me so I stayed in the cottage and snuggled up in a big chair with a blanket and my dog! My huz sent me pictures of the beach and views around there.

We grilled veggies and sausages. It wasn’t too chilly to sit outside and eat; there was nice furniture out there. Mackie (the dog) got to wander around and hide in the flowers and ferns.

I brought my bong so I could still use my mmj. It was nice to sit in the brisk air to smoke.

They had streaming Netflix so we watched The Matrix Reloaded.

We went to bed early because the bed was insanely luxurious getting under the covers was like being in a giant feather sandwich. It was all so soft and smooth. It’s the only hotel bed that my huzzy could sleep in.

They brought a nice breakfast and we hung out. The drive home was easy.

soooooo totally chill.

evening music, a dog, and art.

you choose music for coming home and pull the drapes shut so you’re alone. you put on the Girl from Ipeanema by stan getz  and joao gilberto  with gilberto’s wife astrid singing. it’s a jazz and bossa nova mixed for mellow, groovy, sophisticated evening music.

before you collapse on the soft leather sofa you fill a tall glass with soda water and lots of ice. when ease onto the sofa, you see the dog is there, of course. after greeting him enthusiastically, you  picked him up and scoot him over so you can fit between the pillows and the dog. he crawls into your lap. you keep your fur baby so close and cuddly. his fur is so soft, but the best part is kissing his sleek shiny  head. he smells like clean warm dog. so nice.

you  stretch out and finally start to relax.

the last thing  you see before you start snoozing on your couch with your dog is this painting.

Some writing and a silly painting

I got stuck in a rut, so I decided to paint something silly. The painting is called “Birdie”

Does anyone know what it’s named or what sex it is? Any suggestions?

I spent the last 5 days in bed. I hurt too much to be anywhere else. Yesterday my right leg was numb. It was dead weight. It’s still sort of like that.

My husband went to find lunch a little while ago.

This is boring! I’m going to pretend that I got tagged and tell ten things about myself.

1. Love dogs and am a strong advocate of adopting rescue animals instead of getting them from breeders.

2.i love to eat! Carbs are my favorite. I like veggies and fruit a lot, too. Dairy is right out, except for ice cream. Who doesn’t love ice cream, or even better, gelato!

3.i am bipolar

4.i have been married for 22 years. Of course there are ups and downs, but husband is my soulmate; we’ll be together til death do us part.

5. I am chronically ill. That causes chronic pain.

6. I am an artist.

7.i love the internet.

8.i have a B.A. in history.

9. I live in the San Francisco. Bay Area

10. I keep a journal, in a Moleskine notebook, that I write and every day. I fill several notebooks a year.

……now for the silly painting……..
