live volcano..a painting

i painted this yesterday….

"live volcano"
“live volcano”

i named it “live volcano” because my father and stepmother were in hawaii last week, specifically to see a…live volcano!

my father’s description of it inspired this painting.

constructive criticism appreciated!

    1. thank you! these are Golden brand high flow acrylics. thy have the consistency of ink, they act sort of like watercolors and they have the intense colors of regular acrylics. i haven’t run across all that many people who use them, but i’ve fallen love with them. πŸ™‚

      1. Good! I like to experiment with new materials as much as I can. Right now I am working on a piece using acrylics and layers of plastic wrap. πŸ™‚ Your piece is beautiful. Thank you for the inspiration.

      3. I have posted a few paintings, one being the painting with the plastic wrap that I had mentioned! Let me know what you think! πŸ™‚

  1. I have no criticism – I just really like it! I want my husband, a geologist who loves Hawaii (and knows it well as his Mom lived in Kailua-Kona) to see it. You are so talented, Ruthie!

      1. I know!!!!! I say that all the time – that I could live there despite the high cost of living and terrible economy, ha ha. We went there in 2013 to scatter his mom’s ashes. I was depressed, so that was a huge bummer – still, I did love that 80 degree weather!

      2. true! maybe it wouldn’t seem so special if you lived there, i dunno. i don’t like the humidity, but the fresh fruit is such a treat! i’m sure being depressed in “paradise” would be twice as bad. 😦
